FAQs

At our salon most dogs are only here for half a day. We don’t believe in rushing a dog through the grooming process. That is
why we have two drop off times 8:30 and 12:30. Dogs that are dropped off at 8:00 are normally ready to go home by 12:00 and
dogs dropped off at 12:30 are normally ready to go around 4:30. This allows us time to provide the required grooming and
the dog does not become stressed being rushed through or having to wait all day to go home.

If you have any questions that you did not find here please feel free to contact us @ 905-792-0428 or e-mail

Q?

Are vaccines required for my dog?

A.

All of our grooming clients are required to have up to date vaccines, this is for the protection of not only your pets but also our staff.

Q?

What type of payment do you accept?

A.

We accept cash, debit, visa, mastercard.
Sorry but we do not accept cheques.

Q?

I have made an appointment now what?

A.

When you bring your dog in you will be required to fill in an information form which includes your pets vaccine status, the name of
your veterinarian and also whether your pet has any medical or temperament issues. If your dog is nervous, has sore hips or a
skin condition letting us know beforehand can make your dogs grooming experience easier and more comfortable.

Q?

My dog does not like other dogs, can you still groom him?

A.

Of course we can. If you let us know prior to bringing your dog in we can arrange a drop off time so that you won’t have to deal with
other dogs in the reception area. Our dogs are in the salon but they can be put in their corral so they will not be in your dogs way.

Q?

How much will it cost to groom my dog?

A.

This question is probably the most common one we are asked. We price according to the breed, size and what type of trimming
the owner requests. We can give you the average cost for your type of dog, and we will confirm the charges when you bring your
dog in for his appointment.

Q?

Does my dog have to go in a cage?

A.

For the safety of all our clients yes your dog will be required to be kenneled. As your dog is only here for half a day they really don’t
spend a lot of time in the kennel, they are bathed, hand dried and then given a rest break. The groomer then takes them for their
grooming and styling and then they are returned to their condo to await pick up. Most owners would be surprised to know that
their dogs sleep the entire time they are in the kennel, sometimes we have to wake them up so that they can go home!

Q?

How long have you been grooming?

A.

Denise and Shona have been grooming for over 23 years each.

Q?

What if my dog is very nervous?

A.

Please let us know when you are bringing your dog in if she/he is nervous. We have been working with pets for many years and
like to take our time with each and every dog and are more than willing to take your pets special needs into consideration. We do
however reserve the right to refuse any overly aggressive dog and will refer you to your vet if we feel your pet is too difficult.

Q?

Do you sedate dogs? How do you get them to stay still?

A.

We never ever sedate any dogs. We teach your pets to co-operate in the grooming process by using gentle handling techniques
and a lot of patience.

Q?

How often should my dog be groomed?

A.

We recommend every 4 – 6 weeks. Dogs that are groomed on a regular basis are more relaxed and their coats and skin are kept
in top condition.

Q?

Do you groom cats?

A.

No unfortunately we do not groom cats.

Q?

My dog only needs his nails trimmed do I need an appointment?

A.

We don’t require appointments for nail trims but we do request that you bring your dog in after 9:30am so that we can admit our
scheduled grooming dogs.

Q?

We just got a new puppy when should we start grooming her?

A.

We recommend getting puppies started as early as 12 wks old (once they have had 2 sets of vaccines). We also suggest that you
start brushing your puppy everyday and getting them used to having their paws and face handled. Please read our puppy page for
more information.

Q?

I don’t want bows or bandannas on my dog, he’s too macho

A.

Please let us know when dropping off and we won’t put them on.

Q?

The last groomer shaved my dog, you won’t do that will you?

A.

We will examine your dogs coat when you come in and make our recommendations on the best way to proceed. We pride
ourselves in our breed specific trims and prefer to keep your dog looking their best. If however the dog is very matted we may
have to trim them short but we will set up a regular grooming schedule to keep your pets coat in top condition to prevent future
shavedowns.

Q?

Can I stay with my dog during his grooming?

A.

Due to insurance issues owners are not permitted to stay with their pets. You are however more than welcome to wait in our
reception area where you can see into our grooming salon. We must request that you stay out of sight of your own dog as it can
be very upsetting for them to see you. Much like children, dogs are usually better behaved for strangers than their own parents.

Q?

Do you use heat dryers to dry my dog? I have heard these are dangerous.

A.

We do not use heat dryers. We hand dry your pet using a high velocity dryer which uses only room temperature air. Our kennel
dryers are also room temperature only so there is no chance of your dog becoming overheated.
